About Our Obstetrics Care
Introducing a Unique Approach to Childbirth: Where Everyone is a ‘Unique’ Individual, and Where That Difference Fosters Diversity

Tokyo Birth Clinic is a new and unprecedented obstetrics clinic that re-examines the life event of pregnancy and childbirth—the most significant in life—from the perspective of “diversity” and “self-determination,” accompanying patients on their journey to achieve “childbirth that is true to themselves.” In recent years, the number of medical institutions handling deliveries has been decreasing, necessitating an environment where pregnant women can give birth with peace of mind, within limited options. Tokyo Birth Clinic was founded with the concept of a “meticulously designed, premium space that does not feel like a hospital.” Based on the keywords “a convincing birth, not necessarily the ‘correct’ one” and “ten people, ten ways to welcome a new life,” we were established as a maternity hospital that responds to the diverse family structures and values of our patients.
Our origin lies in accompanying the “story” of every life born at this clinic and every family welcoming it. More than just a medical institution, we aim to be a “place that accompanies you through life” and a “place you want to return to.” We achieve this by offering a lifestyle-proposal-oriented obstetrics experience that appeals to your “sensibilities,” with furnishings, interior design, dining, and services provided throughout the clinic to unleash the patient’s creativity.

Secure Medical System with a Multi-Disciplinary Team
A Comprehensive medical system with prompt emergency response, supported by obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, midwives, and nurses.

24-Hour, 365-Day Epidural Delivery
We offer a safe and flexible epidural delivery option for all patients who desire it, available at their preferred timing.

Stress-Free Visits and Childbirth Using ICT
We use technology to ensure a smooth, stress-free, and convenient experience —from scheduling outpatient appointments to follow-up care before and after delivery.

A Space Designed to Stir the Senses
-The building structure pleasantly stimulates the five senses, allowing you to feel the softness of wood, the scent of flowers, and the light.
– Our common areas eliminate the typical hospital atmosphere and instead evoke a high-end European hotel.
– Our inpatient rooms are meticulously designed to create a ‘home-like’ space where you can relax and recover in safety and comfort.

A Childbirth Experience True to You
We encourage creating a birth plan that offers options for how you spend your time before and after delivery and how your family is involved, helping you let go of rigid ideas about what “must be done.”

Collaborating Hospitals/Facilities
– We maintain close communication with nearby advanced medical institutions and perinatal centers, with obstetricians and anesthesiologists from general and university hospitals serving on call and in our outpatient clinic.
– After delivery, all admitted babies receive a newborn check-up by a pediatrician, and a neonatologist performs a detailed check at the 2-week and 1-month check-ups.

Furthermore, in our second-floor CAFÉ, you can enjoy complimentary cake and freshly baked bread, made by our exclusive chef patissier at every prenatal check-up, making your waiting time a delightful experience.

Ultrasound (Echo) Video Storage Service
During your prenatal check-ups, we offer a service to save and share photos and videos (2D, 3D, 4D echo) of your baby captured during the ultrasound examination as an Echo Diary. You can view these images at any time on your smartphone via a dedicated app and web service.

Complimentary 4D Ultrasound (Echo)
Tokyo Birth Clinic utilizes the latest ultrasound equipment, enabling you to see your baby’s face in the womb through stunning 4D ultrasound images. We perform 4D ultrasounds free of charge at every prenatal check-up, which many patients look forward to, specifically to see their baby.
Comprehensive Menu of Preparation Classes
We offer a rich menu of classes, including Preparation Classes for early, middle, and late pregnancy; Parent Classes; Epidural Delivery Classes; Newborn Classes taught by a pediatrician; and Fetal Education Classes. Furthermore, the Postpartum Reunion hosted by our clinic is an event where mothers and families who have delivered at Tokyo Birth Clinic gather to foster an exchange between babies and their mothers. This warm setting, where participants can share their postpartum anxieties and exchange childcare information, is greatly appreciated by many.

Outpatient Clinic with Female Physicians Available
Our clinic has designated consultation days for female physicians. Patients who prefer a female physician should inform our staff when booking by phone or state “Female physician requested” at the reception desk upon arrival for web reservations. While we will adjust the schedule to accommodate your request whenever possible, please understand that we may not be able to do so due to the physicians’ duty schedule.
Fee Structure Comparable to Nearby Medical Institutions
Our delivery fees are comparable to those of local medical institutions. While the cost varies depending on the delivery method, the type of room you stay in, and the length of your hospitalization, we strive for a reasonable fee structure. To ensure you feel comfortable throughout your visits, our staff is happy to provide detailed explanations of the clinic’s fees upon request. Please feel free to ask.
About Prenatal Check-ups
Purpose of Prenatal Check-ups (Significance and Benefits of Receiving Prenatal Check-ups)

Prenatal check-ups are essential health examinations performed to protect the health of both the patient and the baby. Through regular check-ups at an appropriate frequency based on your gestational week, we confirm that the pregnancy is progressing smoothly and can detect complications such as threatened premature labor, gestational hypertension, or gestational diabetes early, enabling necessary countermeasures. We also monitor the baby’s growth, heart rate, and the condition of the placenta and amniotic fluid to ensure a safe and secure delivery. Tokyo Birth Clinic believes the importance of prenatal check-ups lies in supporting the patient’s mind and body simultaneously. Our staff strives daily to stand by the patient, building a relationship of trust with the medical staff by having you visit the same medical institution throughout your pregnancy, ensuring you can welcome the day of delivery with peace of mind. Prenatal check-ups are the “foundation of health management” for both mother and baby, ensuring they reach delivery in good health. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any concerns.
Number of Prenatal Check-ups Mandated by Law
The number of prenatal check-ups recommended for expectant mothers is approximately 14, according to Articles 12-13 of the Maternal and Child Health Act. This frequency is generally set to once every 4 weeks from the beginning of pregnancy through 23 weeks, once every 2 weeks from 24 weeks through 35 weeks, and once a week from 36 weeks onward. At our clinic, we offer an individualized check-up schedule tailored to each patient’s unique physical condition and pregnancy progression. We are also flexible in accommodating patients who require special management, such as those with specific concerns or pre-existing conditions. Please do not hesitate to consult us if you have any anxieties.

Fees and Subsidies for Prenatal Check-ups

Estimated Check-up Fees
Our prenatal check-up fees are comparable to those of other maternity clinics in Tokyo. Since the examination content varies by gestational week, please contact the reception desk for detailed information. You can use your prenatal check-up coupons (subsidies) for your visits.
Issuance of the Maternal and Child Health Handbook and Local Government Subsidy Programs
Prenatal check-ups are generally self-pay medical services, but you may use the designated subsidy coupons. When you become pregnant, your local government will issue a “Prenatal Health Check-up Voucher (Coupon)” along with your Maternal and Child Health Handbook. By using these vouchers, you can receive approximately 14 prenatal check-ups funded by public expense. This assistance covers a portion of the cost, reducing the patient’s burden by approximately 100,000 yen.
Usable Subsidies and Local Government Collaboration
We have many patients who commute to our clinic from outside Tokyo. Therefore, we can accept subsidy coupons from neighboring municipalities, including those in Kanagawa Prefecture. Please contact the reception desk for further details.
About Prenatal Diagnosis

For those with concerns or questions regarding their baby’s health and development, our clinic offers prenatal diagnosis consultations and testing upon request. Prenatal diagnosis involves examinations conducted during pregnancy to assess the baby’s chromosomes and physical condition. While these tests provide clues about the baby’s health, the decision to undergo testing is profoundly personal and tied to the family’s values and feelings.
Our clinic provides thorough explanations of the benefits and drawbacks of the tests, helping patients and their families make informed decisions with a complete understanding. If you are “concerned but don’t quite understand,” please feel free to consult with a physician first.
About Your Birth Plan

Tokyo Birth Clinic re-examines the monumental life event of pregnancy and childbirth from the perspective of “diversity” and “self-determination.” We highly value each patient’s Birth Plan to ensure you can achieve “childbirth that is true to yourself.” Giving birth is a very special time in your life, which is why we encourage you to prioritize your feelings about “the kind of delivery you want to have.” Just as with planning a wedding, we will carefully listen to the requests outlined in your Birth Plan and provide maximum support to ensure you are satisfied on the day of delivery.
A Birth Plan is like a “delivery blueprint” that outlines your wishes and preferences for childbirth. For example:
- Listening to favorite music during labor
- Having family present for the birth
- Holding the baby immediately after birth
- Adjusting the lighting levels
- Aiming for a natural birth or requesting an epidural (painless) delivery
- Breastfeeding immediately postpartum
Even small requests are welcome. Please share your thoughts and vision with us. Together, we will create your “ideal birth.” Whether this is your first delivery and you feel anxious, or you are an experienced mother, please don’t hesitate to consult us. Our team of physicians, midwives, and nurses will support you and collaborate to deliver a birth that reflects your unique self. Let’s work together to achieve a birth where we prioritize “what you want to do,” not “what you must do.”
