Our primary philosophy is to fulfill the wishes of patients and their families. To that end, we always strive to treat patients with kindness and compassion. At the same time, cooperation across staff roles is indispensable to provide the highest level of care. Although we are busy every day, the idea of “gentleness” is also that staff members help each other proactively and with empathy.
Strong
To respond to patients’ requests, our specialist staff must have thorough strength, stamina, and knowledge. Everyday, we examine the latest advances in medicine and we believe it is our mission to have senior staff mentor junior staff and to enhance each person’s capabilities. We hope each individual grows stronger, and that the organization as a whole becomes stronger. This is the spirit behind “strong.”
Clear
We promise to deliver high-quality medical care safely. Even with one’s own body, there are many things that may be unclear or cause anxiety. Therefore, we always strive to explain things clearly and in detail—not only about pregnancy, childbirth, gynecology, and anesthesia, but also about our systems, fees, and so on. We respect the rights of patients, and we hope that they make choices after sufficient explanations. We also endeavor to transparently and intelligibly communicate our social contribution activities and efforts to improve staff welfare. That is what “clear” means to us.

Background & Concept
In recent years, medical institutions offering delivery services are on the decline, and within the limited choices, pregnant women require an environment in which they can feel safe during childbirth. Tokyo Birth Clinic was born with the concept of a “refined, non-hospital-like space” and with keywords such as “not the right answer but one’s conviction” and “ten people, ten ways of welcoming life,” as a maternity clinic that responds to diverse family forms and values. Our origin lies in supporting the “story” of every life born here and every family that welcomes it.

Prime Location in Tokyo
The clinic is located in Kami-Ōsaki, within the “Jonan Five Hills” area (Goten’yama, Ikedayama, Shimazuyama, Hanabusayama, Yatsuyama), inside the Yamanote loop. We were the first obstetrics/gynecology facility in that area to offer 24-hour painless childbirth. Although situated in the heart of the city, the surroundings include embassies and green spaces—for example, it’s a 5-minute walk to the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum.

Safe and Comfortable Childbirth
Skilled and experienced specialist staff protect the safety and health of both mother and baby. We strive to become known as the “Tokyo Birth Clinic of tradition and trust.” We offer natural birth, planned birth, and 24-hour painless childbirth. Anesthesiologists administer analgesia, and in case of emergency cesarean section, the anesthesiologist can respond immediately.

3D / 4D Ultrasound at Every Prenatal Visit
We employ the GE Voluson Expert22, a top-tier ultrasound device used in university hospitals. At every prenatal checkup, you can view your baby’s face in 3D/4D imagery.
“Baby Visit Echo Outpatient” on Non-checkup Days
Ultrasound viewing during prenatal visits is often one of the greatest joys. However, there are times when the baby’s position makes it difficult to see their face. To meet the desire, “I want to see my baby more,” we offer ultrasound service on non-prenatal visit days. Even patients who are not having prenatal checkups at our clinic may use this service multiple times.
Aesthetic Closure for C-section Scars
For scheduled cesarean sections, with the patient’s wish, a plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic medicine may suture the incision to make the scar less conspicuous.
(In emergency cases or depending on the weekday, this may not be feasible.)
Free Shuttle Service from Stations
Although the nearest stations (Shirokanedai, Meguro, Gotanda) are about a 5-minute walk away, we offer a free shuttle in a specially managed vehicle from the station to the clinic upon request. The vehicles are environmentally friendly (EV, PHEV, HRV). We use a Lexus LM with sliding rear doors and spacious electric reclining seats for comfort. Inside the car, the air is purified with nanoe-X from the air vents.

Onsite Parking
Our clinic has level parking spaces large enough for high-roof SUVs and heavy luxury vehicles. You may park during outpatient visits, hospital stays, or at discharge. The pathway from the parking lot to the clinic is lined by a garden, and a gentle ramp with handrails leads indoors.
Privacy-Aware System & VIP Entrance
For outpatient use, upon request, we can arrange a private pathway so that your examination is not visible to other patients. Please feel free to ask.
Top-level Security
During hospitalization, all rooms are private. Interiors, including curtains, are refreshed regularly to maintain a clean, upscale atmosphere. We have security cameras inside and outside (e.g. outpatient areas, nurse station, neonatal room, corridors), and a 24-hour rapid response security system (SECOM branch in Meguro is about one minute away). We coordinate with security to both prevent and respond to incidents.

入院中の面会制限なし
There is no limit on visitors during your stay. Visits are allowed 24 hours a day. Visitors may use the intercom at the clinic entrance and be admitted by the patient’s own security release.
Smart Reservation / Reception / Calling / Payment System
Our clinic uses electronic patient cards. This enables smooth reception on the day of visit. With our app, you can make, change, or cancel appointments 24/7. The app also includes an information feature, notifying you as your appointment draws near. Based on the real-time clinic status, the app estimates your exam time and notifies you via email or push, reducing wait times.

診察待ちのお時間をより快適にお過ごしいただけるよう、院内にはCAFEと多目的ルームをご用意しています。CAFEでは、焼きたてパンとお菓子とお飲み物。多目的ルームでは、音楽家の生演奏や最高級の音響ブランド「Bang & Olufsen」のスピーカーで、赤ちゃんと一緒に楽しみながら、胎教のお時間や映像サービスをご鑑賞いただけます。

院内には診察の順番を表示するモニターを設置していますが、お呼び出しの際にはスマートフォンにも通知が届きますので、院内でも院外でもご自由にお待ちいただけます。院外でも楽しくお待ちいただけるように、クリニック周囲のCAFE MAPをご用意しておりますので、お気軽にスタッフまでお声かけください。
診察後の会計は待たずに帰宅
After examination, payment is streamlined. You can register your credit card (AMEX, Diners Club, VISA, MasterCard, JCB) at your first visit, and thereafter, the “smart payment” system allows you to leave immediately after your appointment. The billing notice will later be sent to your registered credit card.

ご入院中の美味しいお食事は、当院自慢の特徴の一つです。当院のお食事は、産婦人科クリニックとしては珍しい専属のシェフが、腕によりをかけてご提供いたします。旬の食材を使用した美味しいお料理を毎日ご堪能ください。また、ご出産後の「お祝膳」はSNS映えする、見た目にも美しいシェフのおまかせコース料理をご用意いたしました。コース料理に使用される食器は、皇室御用達の高級食器ブランドである大倉陶園と当院がコラボレーションして製作。京都御所に納品された国賓の接遇に使用される食器をベースに、当院のシンボルツリーであるオリーブの木をあしらったオリジナルのものとなっています。
We maintain a bakery inside the clinic. Both inpatients and outpatients may enjoy freshly baked bread. The outpatient area and café are joined by a skylight, filling the interior with the aroma of fresh bread.

Hospital-Restaurant Level Meals
We take pride in our meals. Rather than typical hospital food, we employ dedicated chefs who prepare daily dishes using seasonal ingredients, balancing nutrition, visual appeal, delicate flavors, and aroma. After childbirth, we serve a celebratory meal, a full French course, using tableware co-developed with Ōkura Tōen (a brand favored by the Japanese imperial family), featuring motifs of the clinic’s olive symbol tree. Family members may join for the celebratory meal.

Building & Design
The architectural design was handled by Jun Mitsui & Associates (involved in projects like Azabudai Hills, the Omotesandō Apple Store, and Haneda Airport’s international terminal). The design balances reliability as a medical facility while creating a refined beautiful space that does not feel like a hospital. Every detail—building materials, finishes, furniture, curtains, interior coordination, garden plantings, and the clinic’s centuries-old olive tree—was chosen over time to represent a luxury maternity clinic proud of Tokyo and the world.
Structural engineering was done by Arup (London), enabling the overhanging design.
The foundation and retaining walls were engineered to withstand major earthquakes (magnitude > 8.0). The retaining wall work, which took over a year, allowed the removal of the “red zone” designation. We built with a focus not only on aesthetic design but on safety to protect patients and families under any circumstances.

Interior Experience
From the moment you step inside, our clinic is designed to feel more like an upscale home or art museum than a medical facility. Furnishings, art, plants, and lighting are all carefully curated to make patients feel, “I’m glad I came here.” We believe “beautiful space” is part of supporting安心 (peace of mind), healing, and trust. From entrance to exam rooms to delivery rooms, we maintain a consistent aesthetic, with high-quality furnishings and art installations.

Inside, stained glass filters soft light across walls and floors. Floral arrangements curated by florist Nicolai Bergmann and the clinic director appear weekly, adding color and scent throughout the space.
Outpatient Prenatal Care
Warm Waiting Rooms
To avoid chilling drafts through windows on cold winter days, we installed heaters along the window sills. Patients waiting by the windows can remain comfortable and warm.
Services During Waiting Time
On the clinic’s second floor is a café offering pastries, baked goods, and drinks prepared by a pâtissier. The pâtissier has previously worked at the legendary “Lecrin” in Ginza and has run his own shop abroad with clientele among celebrities, athletes, and entertainers.
For inpatients, we also offer postpartum head spa treatments using Italian organic amenities. Outpatients may enjoy maternity esthetic and head spa (excluding the abdomen):

All rooms use premium TEMPUR beds and the ProLux mattress. These mattresses, developed from NASA research, adapt to body shape, weight, and temperature to provide optimal comfort. Bed height is adjusted to facilitate sitting and standing during late pregnancy.

Bedding
Beds can electrically recline and may include massage or zero-gravity features. Bedding (duvets, pillows, sheets) is selected from materials used in global 5-star hotels, and changed seasonally.
Heated Floors
All patient rooms feature floor heating, especially around showers and bathrooms, so your feet stay warm.
Quiet Refrigerators
We selected ultra-quiet refrigerators so drinks remain cool without disturbing rest.

〜 Argan Oil extract 〜

Postpartum Care
We provide a facility with 24/7 physician, midwife, and nursing staff for postpartum care (around 3 months). This is intended to support maternal recovery, health monitoring, and relaxation. This service is available even if you did not deliver at our clinic. Many municipalities offer subsidies for postpartum care; we can assist with inquiries.

Environment to Consult OB/GYN / Pediatricians Postpartum
We provide 24/7 care for your baby and serve our clinic’s high-quality meals, while also accepting consultations related to postpartum body recovery, lactation concerns, or baby health issues. In addition, as part of perinatal care, you may consult with a pediatrician for concerns about your newborn.

Clinic Surroundings Clean-Up Activities
Our staff collectively perform daily cleaning around the clinic. While modest, we aim to be a clinic that contributes to local beautification.
Support for Staff Balancing Childcare & Work
We have implemented a shortened work system for staff with preschool children and allow reduced work hours. Family allowances are given to staff with children under 18. Because the director values family time, staff with preschool children may take five extra “Sukusuku Leave” days per child per year. Additional leave is also available for birthdays of staff, spouse, or minor children.
As part of improving work environments for parents, we are considering establishing an in-clinic childcare center.
Clinic Location & Nearby Facilities
Tokyo Birth Clinic is located in Kami-Ōsaki, in the Shinagawa ward. Although Kami-Ōsaki may not be familiar to some, it is part of the “Jonan Five Hills,” specifically “Hanabusayama.”
Within a five-minute walk from the clinic is the site of the former home of Empress Michiko’s parents, now “Nemunoki no Niwa” (a garden). Inside the garden, plants mentioned in the poems she wrote are planted, making it a soothing place. We highly recommend visiting this garden during your appointment if you have time.
Nearby are various embassies; to the side of the clinic is the Embassy of Thailand, and facing the clinic is the Embassy of Indonesia.
